Breakker launch video for debut single “Times Not Gonna Wait”
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA rockers Breakker consisting of lead vocalist Clare Mairéad, drummer Ben Brower, bassist Stevie Lang and guitarist Teagan Edsell have unveiled a video for their debut single “Times Not Gonna Wait” from their upcoming EP.
Speaking exclusively to Sleaze Roxx, Lang explained how Breakker came to be. “Breakker formed when I was looking for musicians to put together a traditional/classic metal band starting in 2022. Drummer Ben Brower responded to an ad that I placed online and we auditioned a few guitar players and singers until we finally found vocalist Clare Mairéad and guitarist Teagan Edsell in 2023. Ben however is going to move from drums to rhythm guitar so now we are in the middle of auditioning drummers and we will be a five-piece dual guitar band just like the bands we love like Judas Priest, Riot, Ratt, Iron Maiden, Saxon, UFO, etc.”
Breakker are reportedly the only group playing the ’80s brand of hard rock / heavy metal in the Philadelphia area. In terms of why he plays this kind of metal, Lang indicated: “I always stayed true to my love for hard rock and metal. I always say that I’m a fan first and musician second. I will never sell out to the trends or sell my soul. I live and breathe heavy metal, hence my nickname / stage name since high school is ‘The Metal Warrior‘.”
On how the Breakker members came up with their band name, Lang stated: “Ben and I came up with the name Breakker. I actually originally wanted to call the band Night Breaker after the Riot album but there was another band using that name so we went with Breakker with 2 Ks because it reminds me of Dokken and it makes our logo look cooler.” In terms of where Breakker are at with respect to recording their debut EP, Lang revealed: “We are just about done. It will be five-song EP. All the drums and guitars are finished. I have one more song to put the bass on and Clare has two more songs to lay vocals on. It will be out in the spring.”
