Readers should be familiar with The Rattlebacks, consisting of the Über talented quintet consisting of Coxy (rhythm guitar), Max (lead guitar), Josh Clarke (vocals), Jack “The Hell” Hollamby (bass), and Seth Markes (drums), and their quintessential EP Kink.

From the band with slight edits. “As our latest single hits streaming platforms everywhere, we thought we’d give you a little peek behind the curtain of ‘Backdrop’. It all started one fateful Saturday night at Download Festival 2018, Coxy & Max were due to see their childhood hero-band Guns N’ Roses and in all the chaos surrounding GN’R‘s set, they met some wonderfully weird people who we won’t name & embarrass here but needless to say, the ensuing night’s hijinks inspired the song’s lyrics and then some (we can’t say what those aforementioned hijinks were or we’ll probably get cancelled… 2024 right?) but we’re sure you can read between the lines.

In terms of the music, that was all Max. He sat in his room depressed and lonely (bless him) at university, he decided to cheer himself up by writing a, in our opinion, damn good riff and expanding it in one night into basically the fully fledged beast you are hearing now (minus a few embellishments of course!)

The band honed & improved the track over the years playing it live at every show. Cut to March 2024, and we were in the studio laying it down with our ever suffering producer Dave Holmes of Lightship 95 who lent us his magical ears & brain to perfectly sculpt the song into it’s current form.

We hope you enjoy it! Make sure to check out the music video which dropped at 9am on the 18th of April over on our YouTube channel! It features some never before seen footage of all of us dicking about, what’s not to love there!”
