Yngwie Malmsteen has world tour booked starting in May to celebrate the launch of his solo career & album

Former Steeler and Alcatrazz guitarist Yngwie J. Malmsteen has forged a successful career for four decades and he will be celebrating the launch of his solo career and album Rising Force during a world tour that starts in two months.

The following message was posted in part on Malmsteen‘s Facebook page earlier today:

“To all of you guys sending well wishes on the 40th anniversary of my first solo album, Yngwie J. Malmsteen’s Rising Force

Thank you! The sentiment is appreciated. But it was not released until November 1984 in Japan only. Subsequently, it was released worldwide in early 1985.

I have a world tour booked starting in May to celebrate the launch of my solo career and album. I’ll have more details on that and other celebrations later this year.

Thank you and see you all soon.

Yngwie

Wikipedia summarizes Malmsteen‘s debut solo album as follows (with slight edits): “Rising Force is the first studio album by guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, released in late 1984 through Polydor Records. This was originally planned as an instrumental side-project of his then-current band Alcatrazz, but due to singer Jeff Scott Soto‘s appearance on the album, Malmsteen opted to release it as a solo album. It reached No. 14 on the Swedish albums chart and No. 60 on the US Billboard 200, and received a nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance at the 1986 Grammy Awards. The album is regarded as a landmark release in the shred and neoclassical metal genres.”
