Shakira Adds Extra North American Tour Dates Due to High Demand

Shakira has been unstoppable since launching her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” world tour in Brazil in February. Due to overwhelming demand, the Colombian global artist has added two more dates to the North American leg, starting May 13 in North Carolina.

The newly announced shows include a second stadium date for both New York and Miami. They are scheduled for Friday, May 16, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., and Saturday, June 7, at Hard Rock Stadium, respectively.

This announcement follows the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer’s successful tour in Latin America, where she became the first female artist to have seven sold-out shows at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City. She now shares the record of seven dates at the venue with Grupo Firme, which will perform its eighth show there on June 28.

Shakira has been named No. 1 among the Best 50 Female Latin Pop Artists of All Time by Billboard. She also topped Billboard’s monthly Top Tours chart for the first time, earning $32.9 million from 282,000 tickets sold in February, according to Billboard Boxscore. She is the first solo Latin woman to achieve this, following Bad Bunny, Los Bukis, and RBD among Latin artists who have led the monthly ranking.

Tickets for the new stadium dates in New York and Miami will go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on April 7 through LiveNation.com.
