Kendrick Lamar and SZA have released the official music video for their Billboard-charting single “Luther,” just days before the beginning of their Grand National Tour.
The minimalistic video premiered Friday, April 11. Directed by Karena Evans, known for her work on Drake’s videos “God’s Plan,” “Nice for What,” and “In My Feelings,” the video features SZA and Lamar in moments of introspection, with the song providing the soundtrack. The video concludes with the original recording of Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn’s cover of “If This World Were Mine,” which is sampled throughout the track.
The release comes as the song maintains its position atop the Billboard Hot 100 for the seventh consecutive week, despite competition from Drake’s single “Nokia,” which is currently at No. 3.
Excitement is building for SZA and Lamar’s Grand National Tour, which will cover North America and Europe with 39 shows. The tour starts in Minneapolis on April 19 and concludes in Stockholm on August 9. Notable stops include MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on May 8 and 9, and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on May 24.
DJ Mustard will open for the tour, marking the second time he and Lamar have shared the stage following Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in February, which featured a cameo from the producer.
