YFN Lucci is expected to be released from prison Friday January 31, 2025, but Reginae Carter does not appear to be planning any kind of celebration for his return.
The on-and-off relationship between YFN Lucci and Reginae Carter lasted for two years. Now, with Lucci’s impending release, Reginae has addressed the possibility of reconnecting with him during her appearance on ‘The Morning Hustle Show’ alongside her mother, Toya Carter. When host Lore’l inquired about Reginae’s interest in rekindling her romance with Lucci, Toya quickly interjected, “I don’t think it’s spinning the block season.”
Toya further clarified, “She doesn’t need to revisit past relationships. She should focus on her goals, as she has stated. However, I do want her to find love with someone who will treat her right and respect her. Someone she can build and grow with. But going back to old relationships is not on the agenda.”
Reginae expressed her happiness for Lucci, his children, and his family, emphasizing that there are no hard feelings between them. However, she was clear that a reunion is not in the cards. “Rekindling the relationship and getting back together is not going to happen,” she stated.
Reginae also talked about her decision to maintain a private life, noting that public interest often focuses more on her relationships than her professional work. “My relationships have been the highlight of my life. It seems people are always more interested in who I’m dating rather than my craft and talent. I could release a movie, but if I’m seen with someone, that becomes the focus instead of my work. I want people to pay attention to me, because relationships can be a distraction,” Reginae explained.
The couple dated from 2018 until Lucci’s arrest in 2021. He has been incarcerated since then, facing charges including racketeering and murder. According to reports, he is slated for release this month. Reginae had previously expressed in 2022 that she couldn’t commit to someone with restrictions, but she still held affection for him. “There comes a time when you have to walk away, and that was my time. I still wish him the best. I have love for Ray, but I want to live my life, and I can’t do that with someone in jail. I’m only 23,” she said.
YFN Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, has served three and a half years of his sentence. Reports indicate he could be released from Fulton County Jail in Georgia soon. His legal team is prepared for his release, pending official confirmation. Lucci was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years on probation after pleading guilty to a count under the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. With time served, he became eligible for parole after three and a half months. Upon release, he will serve the remainder of his sentence on probation with specific conditions.
Fans might also anticipate new music from him. Following his sentencing, the artist released a couple of songs, “Free Me” and “Date Night,” and he may share more music once out of jail.
