Doug Gray Takes Hiatus from Marshall Tucker Band Tour Due to Health Concerns

Marshall Tucker Band lead singer Doug Gray is taking a temporary hiatus from touring due to unspecified health concerns, he announced.

“Taking care of business as I always do,” Gray said in a statement. “Thanks and see you soon.”

Gray co-founded the Marshall Tucker Band in 1972 and has been its sole remaining original member since 1996. The group is best known for singles such as 1973’s “Can’t You See” and 1977’s “Heard It in a Love Song.”

The band will continue its 2025 tour without Gray until he returns, including dates with JJ Grey and Mofro, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and Jefferson Starship.

Gray said he plans to stay involved in “all aspects” of the tour while he recovers. “Everyone knows I’m not one to sit on my hands,” he said. “I’ll be making sure all of the stars are aligned.”
