Oakland Athletics Begin Las Vegas Stadium Construction with Site Grading

Initial work on the Oakland Athletics’ $1.75 billion Las Vegas ballpark has commenced with grading of the 9-acre site. This phase began following the issuance of a permit by Clark County. Grading involves adjusting the land’s elevation to suit the stadium’s design, a multilevel structure expected to accommodate 33,000 fans and rise to 320 feet over six interior levels.

Although the A’s and Clark County have not yet finalized a development agreement, site excavation and initial foundation and utility work are permitted. The team has also applied for a final grading permit, pending issuance, and awaits a building permit for further foundation and utility tasks valued at $45.6 million.

The grading work, anticipated to take several weeks, is a precursor to the official groundbreaking ceremony planned for June. The entire construction project is projected to last 31 to 33 months, aiming for completion in time for the 2028 MLB season.
