Celebrate Elvis Presleys Iconic 1969 Debut with a Special Tribute Event

Elvis Presley’s legendary opening night at the International Hotel is being celebrated with a special event titled “1969 Live Concert: The King Returns” on July 31 at the International Theater. This event marks the 56th anniversary of his premiere at the venue and is part of a yearlong celebration of what would have been his 90th birthday.

The tribute features renowned Elvis impersonator Travis Powell, who has previously performed with The Sweet Inspirations, Presley’s original backup group. Ticket prices are nostalgically set to match those from 1969, ranging from $10 for rear orchestra seats to $45 for booth seating. The show starts at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. Following the main event, a free Elvis tribute performance, “The King Comes Home,” will take place at the Westgate Cabaret from 9 p.m. to midnight. Attendees are encouraged to don Elvis-style jumpsuits, though it’s optional.

The concert’s setlist includes classics from Presley’s first show, such as “Suspicious Minds,” “Love Me Tender,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” Additionally, the hotel’s Edge Steakhouse is offering a themed “Love Me Tender” prix fixe menu from July 31 to August 3, priced at $120 per guest.

Elvis’s debut performances at the International Hotel signified the start of a historic nearly seven-year residency, featuring 636 consecutive sold-out shows. Although Barry Manilow surpassed Elvis’s record number of performances at the venue in September 2023, the King’s legacy endures. Notably, Barbra Streisand was the first headliner at the International, performing just before Elvis in July 1969. As part of the ongoing celebrations, Four Seasons legend Frankie Valli will also be performing at the International Theater.
