The proposal to rename a portion of Viking Road to Penn and Teller Drive aims to honor the iconic duo behind Las Vegas’ longest-running headlining act. This change would acknowledge their significant contributions to the city, including their longstanding residency at the Rio and their charitable efforts, such as an annual blood drive.
The process for the name change begins with the Paradise Town Advisory Board meeting, where the proposal will be considered. If approved, it will proceed to the Clark County commission for a final decision. Since the affected stretch of Viking Road doesn’t impact other businesses’ addresses, the renaming process may face fewer obstacles.
Penn and Teller’s potential street naming would align them with other legendary Las Vegas performers who have streets named in their honor, such as members of the Rat Pack and Elvis Presley. This follows a trend in Las Vegas of renaming streets to commemorate significant anniversaries of shows and entertainers, exemplified by the recent renaming of Sirens Cove Boulevard to Mystère Dreams Avenue at Treasure Island.
