Young Thugs Triumphant Return Sparks Anticipation with T.I. and Lil Baby

Young Thug is eager to make up for lost time after his release from jail and seems to be working on something with T.I. After spending two and a half years behind bars, the Atlanta rapper was freed last week following a plea deal in his YSL RICO case, the longest-running trial in Georgia’s history. Now on a 15-year probation, Thug is quickly returning to the music scene, reuniting with former mentor T.I. on Monday night, November 4. In a video shared on Instagram by T.I., the two are seen smiling and hinting at a comeback. T.I. asks, “What you gotta tell these people?” to which Thug responds, “Back, Jack […] No cap in my rap. The right way.” T.I., who is preparing for his final performance next month and his 12th album, hinted at new music in the caption, mentioning the return of the “Kings.”

Besides T.I., Young Thug is reconnecting with other artists since his release. In one of his first social media posts as a free man, he reached out to Lil Baby for a new collaboration, writing, “Wham let’s drop one on these rats peter,” referring to his frequent collaborator by his nickname. Billboards in Los Angeles and Chicago have appeared with the words, “Whatever Wham Says Goes,” a nod to a previous tweet from Thug during his incarceration. Lil Baby seems interested, posting a video on Instagram featuring their 2020 song “We Should,” and welcoming Thug home with a message expressing his happiness and well wishes.

A new collaboration between Thug and Baby is expected given their history, but it complicates Thug’s relationship with Gunna. Gunna was accused of betraying Thug when he pleaded out of the YSL RICO case in December 2022, with Lil Baby being one of his critics. Although Thug’s silence fueled speculation about their relationship, his plea deal included a request to contact and work with Gunna, possibly for business reasons due to their contractual ties through YSL.
