Hot 10 Recap – Week of 11/23

Here we go again, with the ten biggest songs you’re listening to. This is the long-awaited Hot 10 Countdown recap for the week beginning 11/23.

Starting off, dropping one notch to 10 is Morgan Wallen with Love Somebody. Interestingly, the track debuted live in Sweden during Wallen’s One Night at a Time Tour and became highly anticipated after snippets were teased months before its official release. Fans jokingly lamented the wait with comments like, “At this point, we’ll be listening to it on Santa’s sleigh,” showcasing their eagerness and playful frustration.

Benson Boone comes down to 9 with Beautiful Things. Notably, the track became a highlight of Benson’s live performances, with fans connecting powerfully to its emotional depth.

Sabrina Carpenter moves to the 8 spot Taste. A playful yet cheeky track where she addresses her ex’s new partner, suggesting that her influence still lingers in their relationship.

Post Malone and Morgan Wallen fall to 7 with I Had Some Help. Interestingly, the melody draws inspiration from Tom Petty’s “Learning to Fly,” a nod that sparked conversations among fans and critics alike. This song also marks one of Post Malone’s most successful cross-genre ventures, solidifying his ability to transcend musical boundaries.

Gracie Abrams enters the Hot 10, moving from 13 to 6 with That’s So True. A deep dive into the complexities of relationships, focusing on feelings of jealousy, betrayal, and self-reflection. It captures a mix of vulnerability and defiance as the narrator processes her emotions toward an ex-partner and their new relationship.

Teddy Swims stays at 5 with Lose Control. A deeply emotional track rooted in personal experiences with heartbreak and toxic love. The song reflects on themes of codependency, comparing the pull of a troubled relationship to the cravings of addiction.

Sabrina Carpenter’s second song this week, Espresso, stays at 4. Her albums, such as Emails I Can’t Send, showcase deeply personal songwriting, often addressing themes of love, heartbreak, and personal growth.

Staying in the number three spot is Billie Eilish with Birds of a Feather. The song dives deep into themes of enduring love, with Billie pledging loyalty and devotion to her partner even “until the day I die.” It showcases one of her most passionate vocal performances, including her highest belt to date.

The powerful duet from Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, Die with a Smile, stays at number two. This heartfelt ballad explores themes of love’s enduring power and the solace it brings in the face of life’s uncertainties. The duo shared that the song came to life during a spontaneous late-night studio session in Malibu, blending their distinct musical styles into a moving ode to cherishing each moment with loved ones.

Finally, for an 18th week, Shaboozey stands at number one with A Bar Song (Tipsy). Albeit he didn’t win a whole lot at the CMAs last week, he does have a record to tie if he keeps his spot in the hot 100. If A Bar Song gets a 19th week at the top, it will tie the record of the most weeks at number one with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ 2019 hit, Old Town Road.

But as the holiday season approaches, will Shaboozey be replaced by a certain Christmas song next week? Find out next Monday at 9 on Hot Hits 95.3.
