Luke Combs’ Wife Brings Elf on the Shelf Tradition to Her Family

There’s nothing wrong with adding a touch of holiday magic for your children, but Luke Combs’ wife, Nicole, suspects he might not be too pleased with the latest holiday tradition she’s chosen. On Tuesday night, December 10, Nicole shared on Instagram Stories a screenshot of her festive new Amazon purchase: an official Elf on the Shelf. This new Elf comes with an adoption certificate, which Nicole highlighted in her screenshot, writing “LOL,” and specific instructions on how to use this magical figure to make Christmas more exciting for their two young children, Tex and Beau. “In other news…it’s happening,” she wrote over the image of her order.

The Elf on the Shelf is a cherished Christmas tradition in many households. It is a small, stuffed Scout Elf that stays in children’s homes during the holiday season. Each night, the Elf “flies home” to the North Pole on official Santa business and returns by morning. A large part of the fun is that the Elf finds a new resting spot each morning, so children can search for where the Elf has moved to next. While the Elf on the Shelf is a favorite for many families, it also draws complaints from some parents due to the added stress of moving it around the house during a busy time of year.

Nicole was already feeling concerned about the rules and traditions of the Elf on the Shelf when she made her purchase. “But now I’m hearing you need one for each child?? Is this really necessary?” she wondered. She also joked that her country superstar husband might be skeptical about the effort and upkeep an Elf on the Shelf entails. In a second Instagram Stories slide, she shared another user’s reel showing a mom trying hard to capture footage of an Elf moving on the family’s home security camera. “My husband asked me, ‘At what point are we doing too much? When does it end?"” that user wrote. Nicole jokingly added that her husband, Luke Combs, might soon feel the same.

The Combs are parents to two boys, two-year-old Tex and 16-month-old Beau. Fatherhood has been a significant theme in the country singer’s life and music recently, as he released a family-focused album called “Fathers & Sons” in 2024.
