Nearly two years after their debut EP, BSS, a sub-unit of South Korean group SEVENTEEN, is back with a new release. The trio unveiled their latest project, the three-track EP Teleparty, on Wednesday (Jan. 8).
SEVENTEEN, which debuted in 2015, originally divided its 13 members into three units: Hip-Hop, Vocal, and Performance. In 2018, the group announced its first sub-unit, BSS, consisting of members Seungkwan, DK, and Hoshi. That same year, BSS released their debut single, “Just Do It.” Their first EP, Second Wind, followed in 2022, topping Korea’s Circle Album Chart. The EP’s lead single, “Fighting,” featured breakout Korean hip-hop artist Lee Youngji, further cementing BSS’ success.
In December, BSS announced their long-anticipated return, marking the comeback with Teleparty. The EP’s title combines “telepathy” and “party,” symbolizing a “heart-to-heart party of connection through telepathic empathy.” The release encourages listeners to appreciate everyday moments and find joy in life’s simplicity.
A promotional trailer for the EP presents BSS as “ambassadors of youth,” urging people of all ages to embrace youthful energy. “Youth is, in fact, knowing how to enjoy life in the present,” the trio says. “If you can’t do that, you’re not youthful, even if you’re young.”
Teleparty features three tracks, including the swing and country-inspired lead single “CBZ (Prime Time),” the new jack swing throwback “Happy Alone,” and the ’00s-era R&B track “Love Song,” showcasing the trio’s musical versatility.
To celebrate the release, BSS will host a special fan party at Seoul’s CG Art Hall on Sunday (Jan. 12).
