Primus guitarist Larry “Ler” LaLonde’s home has been destroyed by the devastating wildfires sweeping through Southern California and the Los Angeles area.
Band frontman Les Claypool shared a somber photo on Instagram, showing the remains of LaLonde’s house. In the caption, he wrote, “All that is left of our good friend Ler LaLonde’s home.” Claypool added, “When Mother Nature gets up on her hind legs, it can be brutal. My heart hurts for him and his family.”
The wildfires have also forced The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan to evacuate. He posted a video on Instagram showing smoke rising from a temporary location where he and his family are staying.
“High praise for how the LAFD managed to put this out,” Corgan wrote. “The fire had spread from what you see here to the right and down the ridge. Please pray for everyone affected—those hurt, displaced, or who have lost homes and property in this unprecedented disaster.”The Palisades Fire refers to a wildfire that occurred in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles, California. It started in May 2021 and prompted evacuations and road closures as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. The fire spread across rugged terrain, which made firefighting efforts challenging. The cause of the fire was investigated, and it drew significant attention due to its proximity to residential areas and the risk it posed to homes and infrastructure. Wildfires like the Palisades Fire highlight the ongoing challenges of managing fire risks in regions prone to dry conditions and high temperatures.
