Columbus Fury Begins Second Season

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Columbus Fury, the city’s only major professional women’s sports team, kicks off its second season this weekend.

The Fury made waves in its inaugural season, drawing nearly 10,000 fans at its peak to Nationwide Arena. Despite building a strong fanbase, the team finished fifth in the seven-team league with an 8-16 record, falling short of the playoffs.

Head coach Ángel Pérez returns for a second season, leading a roster that blends returning talent with new additions. Megan Courtney-Lush and Tori Stringer are back, joined by newcomers Jill Gillen, one of the league’s top point-scorers last season, and Morgan Lewis.

The Fury’s Ohio roots are strong, with five Ohio natives on the roster. Courtney-Lush, from Kettering, is joined by Kaley Rammelsberg (Westerville), Raina Terry (Marengo), Abby Walker (Cambridge), and Ashley Wenz (Springboro).

How to watch: Fans can purchase single-game and season tickets or watch the games on CBS Sports Network, Fox Sports, Rock Entertainment Sports Network, and YouTube throughout the year.
