Tim McGraw is making history as the first artist to perform at the iconic Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa. This baseball field gained fame from the 1989 movie featuring Kevin Costner. McGraw, who is a passionate baseball fan, will be headlining an all-day concert at this venue on August 30. No additional artists have been announced yet. Since the release of Field of Dreams, the field has been preserved but has seldom hosted large commercial events. This changed in 2021 when Major League Baseball organized a game between the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees, followed by another game in 2022.
Ticket sales for the general public will commence on January 24, with general admission tickets priced at $99.99 through StubHub. However, fans can enjoy a $30 discount during a pre-sale starting on January 20. The concert date coincides with the birthday of McGraw’s father, Tug McGraw, a former MLB star who passed away in 2004. Although the field used for the movie is different from the one MLB used, they are adjacent, and ticket holders for McGraw’s concert will have access to the movie site field. The exact location of the stage on the farm is yet to be determined, as well as the number of attendees allowed. During previous baseball games, the stands accommodated just over 7,800 people. This concert is one of the few events on McGraw’s tour calendar following a busy 2024 schedule. Notably, McGraw and Costner have a friendship and previously collaborated on a TV show. Before starring in 1883, McGraw portrayed James Dutton in a flashback sequence from Yellowstone, where Costner played John Dutton.
