A Wild Past and a Promising Future Parker McCollums Transformative Journey in “What Kinda Man”

Parker McCollum revisits his wild, rebellious days in the new music video for his rising single, “What Kinda Man.” Directed by award-winning Dustin Haney, the video features the country artist enjoying a carefree lifestyle, speeding along open roads and frequenting a local dive bar. Amid the action, viewers see a different side of McCollum – one that has cleaned up his act and returned to the Union Valley Church he once vowed to avoid. He expresses this change while singing about trying to wash away his sins and his determination not to lose someone important to him.

The video reflects McCollum’s real-life transformation. Before meeting his wife, Hallie Ray Light, McCollum embraced a free-spirited lifestyle. However, her arrival in his life, depicted similarly in the video, motivated him to become the man she needed. The song’s lyrics convey this shift, highlighting his past wildness and his willingness to change for her.

The video includes subtle nods to McCollum’s previous work and future performances. A singed white t-shirt references his “Burn It Down” video, while a silver Houston Rodeo bomber jacket hints at his upcoming performance at RODEOHOUSTON in March.

McCollum expressed excitement about the video, praising his collaboration with Haney and sharing his hope that fans will enjoy it. “What Kinda Man,” co-written by McCollum, Natalie Hemby, and Jeremy Spillman, follows his series of No. 1 singles and offers a glimpse of the new music he plans for 2025.
