In response to executive orders issued by President Donald Trump, Nellis and Creech Air Force Bases in Nevada have begun removing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) content from their platforms. This action follows a directive from the Pentagon, as outlined in a memorandum by Pentagon press secretary Sean Parnell, which mandates the removal of any content related to DEI initiatives. This includes materials promoting critical race theory, gender ideology, and any preferential treatment based on race, sex, or ethnicity, as well as content opposing merit-based policies.
The directive requires all Defense Department branches to eliminate DEI-related articles, photos, and videos by March 5. However, content necessary for legal compliance or related to regular operations, such as leadership information and educational activities, is exempt from this removal. Additionally, military components must issue a statement on social media indicating that the removal of content aligns with these executive orders and departmental priorities, while ensuring that all removed content is archived per records management policies.
