A$AP Relli is continuing his legal battle against A$AP Rocky through a civil lawsuit for assault and battery related to a 2021 incident, despite Rocky’s acquittal in the criminal trial. During a recent court hearing, Relli’s legal team announced their intention to move forward with the civil case, which is set for trial on January 12, 2026. The civil case had been paused pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.
Relli’s attorney, Melissa Mikail, highlighted the difference between civil and criminal standards of proof, noting that the civil case only requires a preponderance of evidence, which is a lower threshold than that of criminal cases. She affirmed their belief in the validity of their claims.
Conversely, Rocky’s attorney, James Sargent, expressed skepticism about the lawsuit’s foundation, pointing out that the jury’s decision in the criminal trial reflects their view of the evidence. Sargent stated that Rocky is not interested in settling the case and anticipates a favorable outcome in the civil trial, suggesting that Relli should reconsider his position based on the criminal trial’s results.
The next hearing for the civil case is scheduled for May 28.
