Blondshell, the musical project of Sabrina Teitelbaum, is back with a follow-up to her self-titled debut album. Her second LP, If You Asked for a Picture, is set to release on May 2 via Partisan Records.
Collaborating once again with producer Yves Rothman, Teitelbaum drew creative influence from Mary Oliver’s 1986 poem “Dogfish,” as well as the iconic albums Rated R by Queens of the Stone Age and Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Speaking about these inspirations, she explains, “It’s empowering for me to use sonic references that feel reserved for men. The first record feels really black-and-white to me. This record has more questions.”
Alongside the announcement, Blondshell unveiled a new single, “T&A,” inspired by the Rolling Stones’ “Little T&A” from Tattoo You. Its music video, directed by Hannah Bon, explores the parallels between three men and their rescue dogs, creating a unique narrative.
Reflecting on the current wildfires devastating Los Angeles, where she has lived for a decade, Teitelbaum shared: “It feels impossible to think of anything other than the fires right now. The scale of the loss is incomprehensible. In a way, it feels trivial to talk about music, but I believe art exists as a small emotional respite in the midst of pain… even if just for a moment. Please stay safe. Thank you for letting me share this with you.”
Teitelbaum also highlighted resources to support the community, including Mutual Aid LA, dog fostering opportunities, and an LA Fire Department fundraiser. Her 12-track album explores themes of love, family, and friendship — often found in unexpected places.
