Boyd Gamings Cadence Crossing Project and Industry Updates: Key Developments and Legal Disputes Unfold

Boyd Gaming Corp. is set to begin construction on Cadence Crossing, a new locals-focused property in Henderson, Nevada. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place near the existing Jokers Wild Casino on Boulder Highway. Scheduled for completion in mid-2026, Cadence Crossing will feature 450 slot machines and various dining options. The development is part of a long-term plan to accommodate the growing Cadence community, with future expansions potentially including a hotel and more gaming facilities.

In other news, Wynn Resorts Ltd. has nominated Anthony Sanfilippo, former chairman and CEO of Pinnacle Entertainment, to its board of directors. The nomination will be voted on at the company’s annual meeting on April 30. Sanfilippo is set to fill the vacancy left by Margaret “Dee Dee” Myers, who is stepping down from the board after serving since 2018. Wynn’s board chairman, Philip G. Satre, highlighted Sanfilippo’s extensive experience in the hospitality and gaming industry as a significant asset to the board.

Meanwhile, a legal dispute between Aristocrat Leisure and Light & Wonder continues to unfold. The conflict centers around the similarity between Light & Wonder’s Jewel of the Dragon game and Aristocrat’s Dragon-themed slots. Despite a previous court ruling ordering Light & Wonder to remove its Dragon Train machines due to their resemblance to Aristocrat’s products, the issue persists. Chad Beynon, a gaming industry analyst, noted that while the Jewel of the Dragon game is smaller in scale, the litigation may still impact Light & Wonder, whose shares recently fell by 11 percent.
