Brittany Aldean Lashes Out at Billboard Over Jason Aldeans Exclusion from Top Country Singers List

Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany, criticized Billboard for allegedly playing politics after Aldean was not included in its recent list of the best country singers of all time. Brittany suggested on Instagram Stories that Aldean was excluded due to his conservative political beliefs. She pointed out that this is one of the many challenges they have faced in the industry because of their political stance and support for Donald Trump. Brittany expressed frustration, stating that Billboard’s priorities prevent them from recognizing true talent.

The Aldeans have been open about their political views for some time, becoming more outspoken in recent years. In 2022, Brittany had a public disagreement with Maren Morris over trans rights and gender-affirming care for teens, which led to her appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show to explain her perspective. The couple has supported Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and has met him multiple times, considering him a personal friend. Aldean even performed at the Republican National Convention and spoke at a Trump rally in Georgia. His political views are reflected in his music, particularly in the song “Try That in a Small Town,” which promotes conservative, traditional social values. The song faced backlash, with some accusing it of promoting racist themes and vigilante justice.

Brittany’s Instagram Story also included a link to a post by Tully Kennedy, Aldean’s bassist and co-writer of “Try That in a Small Town.” Kennedy also criticized Billboard for excluding Aldean and suggested it was due to his political views. He remarked that the exclusion only added to their motivation. Although Aldean himself has not directly addressed the issue on social media, he did comment on Kennedy’s post.

Billboard’s list of the Best 100 Country Singers of All Time features legends such as Kris Kristofferson, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash, along with contemporary stars like Luke Combs and Eric Church. While Aldean’s contemporaries Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton are included, the list also features artists with conservative views like Hank Williams Jr. and Toby Keith.
