COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” will debut in Ohio as part of the Broadway in Columbus 2025-26 season lineup. The season will also include a musical adaptation of “The Outsiders” from 1983, alongside the return of Broadway favorites “Hadestown” and “Six.”
The lineup, announced Monday evening by Broadway in Columbus and CAPA, features 10 productions, comprising a seven-show package and three additional season options. This season will see six productions performing at the Ohio Theatre for the first time: “Harry Potter,” “Some Like It Hot,” “Back to the Future: The Musical,” “The Outsiders,” “Shucked,” and “Water for Elephants.”
“Six Columbus premieres, including the only Ohio stop for the new ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ tour … we couldn’t be more excited,” said Chad Whittington, CAPA President and CEO. “The season really does represent the last several years of Broadway at its best, freshest, and most creative, alongside two beloved classics.”

Nineteen years after the events that saved the wizarding world, Harry, Ron, and Hermione embark on a new adventure, joined by a new generation at Hogwarts. When Harry’s son, Albus, befriends the son of Draco Malfoy, a new journey begins that could change the past and future forever.
“Some Like It Hot” | Ohio Theatre | Nov. 18 – 23, 2025
Set during Prohibition in Chicago, this story follows two musicians on the run after witnessing a mob hit. With gangsters in pursuit, they board a cross-country train for a life-changing adventure.
“Back to the Future: The Musical” | Ohio Theatre | Jan. 6 – 11, 2026
Marty McFly, a rock ‘n’ roll teenager, is accidentally sent back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean by his friend, Dr. Emmett Brown. He must ensure his parents fall in love to secure his own future.
“The Sound of Music” | Ohio Theatre | Feb. 24 – March 1, 2026
Directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien, this classic tale of Maria and the von Trapp family features beloved songs such as “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” and “Edelweiss.”
“The Outsiders” | Ohio Theatre | March 17 – 22, 2026
Winner of four 2024 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, “The Outsiders” is a coming-of-age story set in 1967 Tulsa, Oklahoma. It follows Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade, and their group of Greaser “outsiders” as they navigate a world that refuses to accept them.

With a book by Tony Award winner Robert Horn and a score by the Grammy Award-winning team of Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, this American musical, directed by Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien, promises to satisfy audiences with its unique charm.
“Water for Elephants” | Ohio Theatre | June 9 – 14, 2026
A young man, after losing everything, joins a traveling circus and discovers a new life on the road. Told from the perspective of his older self, the story is a reminder that life can begin anew at any age when you choose to embark on the journey.
