Cassie is seeking judicial intervention to prevent Diddy from accessing her unpublished book about their relationship and her financial records. Diddy’s legal team has issued a subpoena requiring Cassie to provide any drafts of memoirs, autobiographies, or notes related to their history, along with any communications concerning their potential publication.
Additionally, Diddy is requesting access to Cassie’s bank statements. His legal team claims that Cassie once offered to sell the book to him for $30 million to avoid its release. After Diddy declined, Cassie filed a civil lawsuit in November 2023 accusing him of sexual assault and sex trafficking, which was settled shortly thereafter.
Diddy’s team is also questioning the validity of security footage that allegedly shows him assaulting Cassie in a hotel corridor in 2016. A forensic expert brought in by Diddy’s defense has raised concerns about the footage’s accuracy, citing issues with the video being potentially altered through a process called transcoding, which affects the frame rate. The expert also notes that an iPhone video of the footage makes Diddy appear larger and highlights inconsistencies in the timecodes, which could obscure the sequence of events.
The forensic expert concludes that the available video files are not reliable copies of the original footage. Federal prosecutors have not yet addressed these claims but maintain that they possess the original video. Despite seeking to exclude the footage from trial, Diddy has publicly apologized for his conduct depicted in the video.
