Just days after taking over New York City with a double-duty appearance on Saturday Night Live, Charli XCX staged a surprise pop-up performance in Times Square.
The event, held Monday evening (Nov. 18), was billed as an “H&M & New York City Secret Event.” Fans were clued in by an online event page featuring text in Brat green—a shade tied to Charli XCX’s culture-shaping sixth album—and the singer’s history with H&M.
In August, Charli XCX participated in the launch of H&M’s Autumn/Winter 2024 campaign alongside Arca, Lila Moss, Ajus Samuel, and others. The campaign was unveiled with a special London performance on Sept. 12, which included DJ sets by Jamie xx and Sherelle.
H&M’s collaboration with the singer expanded to New York City on Monday, with the retailer announcing the Times Square pop-up just 30 minutes before it began. A social media post confirmed Charli XCX’s involvement, stating she was “about to make history in Times Square wearing the H&M Holiday Collection.”
The five-song set featured Charli XCX performing in H&M attire, delivering tracks from Brat, including singles “360,” “Von Dutch,” and the viral hit “Apple.” She opened and closed the show with remixes of album tracks “365” and “Guess,” respectively.
Footage of the event shows a sizable crowd gathering to witness another milestone in the singer’s standout year.
Since its release in June, Brat peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The album became a pop culture phenomenon, earning widespread acclaim and a Grammy nomination for album of the year.
On Saturday (Nov. 16), Charli XCX made her third Saturday Night Live appearance and her debut as both host and musical guest. She delivered electrifying performances of Brat tracks “360” and “Sympathy Is a Knife.”
