Cirque du Soleil Leadership Shift: Stéphane Lefebvre Departs, Daniel Lamarre Returns

Stéphane Lefebvre has transitioned from his role as CEO and president of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, with Daniel Lamarre stepping back in to assist with leadership during this change. Lefebvre, who took over from Lamarre in November 2021, will now focus on evaluating new international value-creation initiatives for the company’s portfolio, moving away from daily operations.

Lamarre, who first joined Cirque in 2001, is based in the company’s Montreal headquarters, where most of its operations are currently managed. His temporary return aims to ensure a smooth transition in leadership. Lefebvre’s tenure was marked by guiding Cirque through its reopening post-pandemic and implementing a global restructuring under the One Cirque operating model to improve collaboration and efficiency.

Cirque du Soleil has been undergoing significant restructuring efforts. This includes the recent departure of Mike Newquist, who left his role as chief revenue officer shortly after returning to the company. Additionally, over 100 positions were cut in Las Vegas and Montreal as part of the One Cirque initiative, which aims to consolidate divisions and streamline operations. The restructuring also led to the dissolution of several divisions and the dismissal of management officials across various Cirque holdings. Lefebvre played a key role in these changes, leaving a notable impact on the organization.
