Def Leppard has released a cover of Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me” to aid victims of the Southern California wildfires. All proceeds from the song will be donated to FireAid to support both immediate relief efforts and long-term initiatives aimed at preventing future disasters.
Joe Elliott, the band’s singer, highlighted Los Angeles’ significance in Def Leppard’s history and expressed the band’s gratitude for the opportunity to support the heroes assisting those affected by the wildfires. Guitarist Phil Collen emphasized the importance of unity during difficult times, noting his personal connection to Southern California and the ongoing impact of wildfires on the region. He described the cover as a tribute to resilience, unity, and hope, with all proceeds benefiting wildfire victims.
The release of the cover coincided with dual FireAid benefit shows at Inglewood’s Kia Forum and Intuit Dome, which featured performances by artists such as Green Day, the Black Crowes, Joni Mitchell, Rod Stewart, Lady Gaga, and other rock and pop acts.
