Eminem is putting his money on Kendrick Lamar to dominate the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. The Detroit rap legend, known for his candid takes, shared his thoughts in a recent interview, where he didn’t hold back in praising the Compton emcee. “The competition is tough, but Kendrick is going to sweep it. He deserves to,” Eminem stated during the broadcast.
Kendrick’s chart-topping hit, “Not Like Us,” is leading the pack in major categories, including Record of the Year. The track is up against powerhouse entries like Beyoncé’s “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” and Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone. The song has also scored nominations for Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.
Eminem, meanwhile, is vying for Best Rap Performance with his single “Houdini,” a standout from his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). He’s in a tight race against Cardi B’s “Enough (Miami),” Doechii’s “NISSAN ALTIMA,” Common and Pete Rock’s “When the Sun Shines Again,” and GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!” On top of that, Eminem’s Coup De Grâce is in contention for Best Rap Album, marking a significant year for the veteran rapper.
The mutual respect between Eminem and Kendrick is no secret. In 2022, Eminem invited Kendrick to join him for the Super Bowl LVI halftime show, where Lamar’s performance of “m.A.A.d city” was a highlight. Now, Lamar is set to take the Super Bowl stage as the headliner in February 2025, cementing his position as one of hip-hop’s greatest.
