Firefighters Contain Clark County Wetlands Fire; Park Partially Closed for Monitoring

Firefighting crews have successfully contained a large vegetation fire that started on Monday morning at Clark County Wetlands Park in the southeast Las Vegas Valley. The fire, which burned approximately 34 acres, will continue to be monitored by crews through Tuesday to address any potential hot spots.

As a result, the park’s 210-acre nature preserve, visitor center, and surrounding trails will be closed on Tuesday. However, the Wetlands Park Nature Center’s exhibit gallery and nature store will remain open.

The response to the fire involved multiple agencies, including the Clark County Fire Department, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, the Henderson Fire Department, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Nevada Division of Forestry also participated.

Local fire departments focused on protecting nearby structures, while state and federal crews worked on extinguishing the fire and managing any flare-ups. Smoke from the fire was visible across the Las Vegas Valley, prompting authorities to urge caution for anyone visiting the area.

The National Weather Service warned that strong winds could cause any fires to spread rapidly, highlighting the importance of vigilance in fire-prone areas.
