GRAMMYS Announce Dr. Bobby Jones Receives the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award

Congratulations to gospel icon Dr. Bobby Jones, who has been named a 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree by the Recording Academy. He shares this prestigious recognition with an incredible lineup of honorees, including Prince, Frankie Beverly, The Clash, Taj Mahal, and others.

Dr. Bobby Jones is a legendary figure in gospel music, celebrated for his groundbreaking contributions as a vocalist, television host, and producer. He launched his career in 1976 with the debut of Nashville Gospel on WSM-TV. In 1980, he created and hosted Bobby Jones Gospel on BET, which became the longest-running original series in cable television history and a cornerstone for showcasing gospel music to millions.

Jones earned a Bachelor of Science from Tennessee State University and later achieved a Doctor of Education degree from Vanderbilt University. His extensive achievements extend beyond music. In 2006, he was appointed Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Dominica. As a musician, he toured with New Life and the Nashville Super Choir, released 14 albums, and received numerous awards, including a GRAMMY for Best Soul Gospel Performance by a Duo or Group for I’m So Glad I’m Standing Here Today.

The 2025 GRAMMY Special Merit Awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Wilshire Ebell Theater. Dr. Bobby Jones’s recognition celebrates his incredible legacy in gospel music and his enduring impact on the world of faith-based entertainment.
