Grand Prix Plaza Las Vegas Opening Delayed to May for Enhanced Experience

The public opening of Grand Prix Plaza in Las Vegas, initially set for this weekend, has been postponed to May 2. Race officials have delayed the opening to ensure a high-quality guest experience. Grand Prix Plaza, located at the intersection of Koval Lane and Harmon Avenue, serves as the hub of Formula One activities in Las Vegas. It features the F1 pit building and surrounding areas, offering virtual racing attractions, real-life go-karting, dining options, and an F1 retail store.

While several permits for the plaza have been approved, the karting attraction, known as F1 Drive, is still pending approval for its life safety and amusement transportation systems permits. This attraction will allow guests to race electric go-karts on a track with 31 turns, primarily inside the garage space, and a section on the pit lane. The karts will have adjustable speeds, capped at 30 mph, and will not operate in the rain.

The karting track will be installed and removed annually to align with the grand prix schedule. Grand Prix Plaza has previously been accessible only during the Las Vegas Grand Prix race weekends and select private events since its completion in 2023. It will close to the public before race weekends to allow for event preparations, with this year’s setup starting on September 23 for the race weekend on November 20-22.
