Harry Styles participated in the Tokyo Marathon over the weekend, finishing among the top runners on Sunday, March 2.
Videos posted by supporters show Styles completing the 26.2-mile race in a dark hoodie, neon sneakers, and a white bandana. In one clip, he smiles and flashes a peace sign as fans cheer him on.
According to the marathon’s online records, Styles finished 6,010th out of more than 37,000 runners, with a net time of approximately three hours and 24 minutes, averaging about 7:47 per mile. In comparison, first-place runner Tadese Takele completed the race in 2:03:23, while Sutume Asefa Kebede was the first woman to finish with a time of 2:16:31.
Styles’ participation in the marathon comes as fans await new music. His last album, “Harry’s House,” was released in 2022, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and won album of the year at the 2023 Grammys.
The former One Direction member has remained largely out of the public eye in recent years. In October, he ended a nearly yearlong break from social media to pay tribute to his former bandmate Liam Payne, who died after falling from a balcony in Buenos Aires. Styles, along with Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan, attended Payne’s funeral in November.
“I am truly devastated by Liam’s passing,” Styles wrote. “His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honor to be alongside him as he did it.”
