High-Speed Chase and Carjackings Follow Casino Killing in North Las Vegas

A suspect involved in a killing at the Aliante hotel-casino in North Las Vegas led police on a high-speed chase across the valley, carjacking multiple vehicles and causing several accidents. The North Las Vegas Police Department responded to a shooting at the casino around 4:30 a.m., discovering a deceased man upon arrival. The suspect fled the scene, prompting a coordinated response from surrounding law enforcement agencies.

Within half an hour, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department were alerted to a crash near Spring Mountain Road and Interstate 15. Shortly after, a carjacking at gunpoint was reported, linking the vehicle from the crash to the initial murder suspect. The suspect continued to evade capture, carjacking another vehicle at a fast-food restaurant drive-thru and reaching speeds over 105 mph.

The chase resulted in a collision at a bus stop on Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway, critically injuring one person. Despite the dangerous speeds, a police helicopter managed to track the suspect’s movements. The pursuit concluded near Boulder Highway and Sahara Avenue when the suspect was apprehended after a third carjacking attempt.

The chaotic morning left multiple vehicles wrecked, and emergency crews attended to injuries on the scene. The police response received praise from the Las Vegas Protective Association for their persistence in capturing the suspect.

At the Aliante hotel-casino, the gaming floor was partially closed off due to the incident, but some gamblers continued to play nearby. Residents expressed surprise and concern over the event, as the area is usually peaceful. Meanwhile, the North Las Vegas Mayor delivered a scheduled address at the casino without mentioning the homicide.
