Jesse Leach on Loves Transformative Power and Personal Growth Journey

During an appearance on the “100 Words Or Less” podcast, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman Jesse Leach discussed his recent wedding to his longtime girlfriend Corinne Paris, also known as Philia Porphyra. When asked how getting married has changed him, the 46-year-old explained that he has learned to be more considerate, especially given his lifestyle.

He emphasized the importance of considering his partner’s feelings before acting or speaking. Communication is crucial in a relationship, but consideration takes precedence. Being somewhat famous means navigating life differently, with people treating you with a certain privilege. However, in marriage or friendship, that’s not the case. His wife keeps him grounded, reminding him to work as a partner. Marriage is the beginning of a new journey, and he’s grateful for the lessons he’s learning. Personal growth is essential, and he acknowledges the need to address his own flaws.

He has been learning to listen to his wife instead of getting defensive, understanding the importance of letting her express herself. “She’s amazing. I love her to death,” he said. Leach and Paris live in Woodstock, New York. Six years ago, Leach announced on social media that he would seek help after he and his wife of over 16 years, Melissa, decided to part ways.

Open about his struggles with anxiety and depression, he shared his decision to seek treatment to avoid becoming another suicide statistic. In 2018, Leach faced challenges like surgery on his vocal cords and dealing with depression and anxiety, which affected the recording schedule for KILLSWITCH ENGAGE’s album “Atonement.” Despite these setbacks, he completed his tracks with the help of guitarist and producer Adam Dutkiewicz, whom he calls his “musical soulmate.” In May 2018, Leach praised his then-wife for supporting him through his vocal surgery and being his biggest fan, critic, best friend, and partner in crime.
