Earth, Wind & Fire performed live at the Power of Love gala, a highly anticipated event. However, an unexpected highlight was Jimmy Kimmel singing Neil Diamond’s “Heartlight” for the audience of 1,500. Known as a big Diamond fan, Kimmel closed his speech at the 28th annual event held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena with this performance, backed by a band featuring his friend Cleto Escobedo III and Escobedo’s father.
Kimmel shared that the song resonated with him, especially as he returned to his hometown in such a supportive environment. This marked his first public solo singing performance, although he has participated in private events and collaborated with other musicians in the past.
Following Kimmel’s performance, Earth, Wind & Fire delivered a 40-minute set, featuring hits like “Fantasy,” “Let’s Groove,” “Shining Star,” “Boogie Wonderland,” and closing with “September.” The event was attended by notable figures such as Gov. Joe Lombardo, event co-founders Larry and Camille Ruvo, and other dignitaries, adding to the evening’s prestige.
