Lady Gaga Teases New Album, Countdown Clock Hints at Details

Lady Gaga has been hinting at her next musical era for nearly a year. Fans, affectionately known as “Little Monsters,” are eagerly anticipating the release of her seventh studio album, referred to as “LG7.” The album is set to debut next month, but as of press time, no specific release date or tracklist has been announced.

Over the weekend, Gaga launched a countdown clock on her official website, set to expire at 11 a.m. ET on Monday, Jan. 27. While the update didn’t provide concrete details, fans noticed an interactive element on the site. Swiping the blue crystals on the screen revealed the phrase “LG1” in the signature font from Gaga’s The Fame era. The crystals also appeared to reference the oversized, bejeweled glasses Gaga wore on the cover of her 2008 debut album.

The upcoming album will be Gaga’s first full-length solo release since 2020’s Chromatica. It will include her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 duet with Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile,” and several versions of the album’s first single, “Disease.” In a recent interview, Gaga described LG7 as a “life-spanning project” featuring a wide range of genres and styles.

“The album leaps around genre in a way that’s almost corrupt,” Gaga said. “It ends with love. That’s the answer to all the chaos in my life — I find peace with love. Every song I wrote feels like a recollection of bad decisions I made in my life, almost like being swept away in dreams of the past.”

The album’s release will precede Gaga’s headlining performances at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 11 and 18.

Before Coachella, Gaga will join Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, No Doubt, Katy Perry, Sting, Stevie Nicks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and others at the FireAid Benefit Concert on Jan. 30. The event, held at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, will support victims of the recent wildfire crisis that has devastated the L.A. area over the past two weeks.
