Las Vegas Launches $53 Million Mixed-Use Project for Affordable Housing and Microbusinesses

State, county, and local officials recently commenced construction on a $53 million small business and affordable housing project in the Historic Westside of Las Vegas. The Mixed-Use Microbusiness Park, scheduled to open by August 2026, is designed to integrate affordable housing and small business support within the community.

Located at 620 W. Lake Mead Blvd., adjacent to Nevada Partners and the Las Vegas Culinary Academy, the development spans approximately 5 acres. It will feature a two-story, 20,000-square-foot facility encompassing retail, office, restaurant, and entrepreneur spaces, alongside an amphitheater, music plaza, and 76 affordable housing units. The park targets microbusinesses, defined as small businesses with 50 or fewer employees.

Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II highlighted the selection of the Historic Westside due to its historical lack of investment, aiming to revitalize the area and integrate it with broader county development efforts. The initiative is spearheaded by Brinshore Development, with architectural designs from KME Architects and construction by Metcalf Builders.

The groundbreaking ceremony featured remarks from several public officials, including U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen, U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford, U.S. Rep. Dina Titus, North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown, Ward 5 Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong, and interim UNLV President Christopher L. Heavey.

Funded entirely by government resources, the project draws from state, federal, and local funds, including contributions from the American Rescue Plan Act. The housing units are intended for individuals earning 80 percent or below the area’s median income, with rental options ranging from studios to three-bedroom units priced between $900 and $1,800 monthly.

Within the facility, six retail spaces, each up to 1,300 square feet, will be available for microbusinesses, including potential restaurant locations. The top floor will feature UNLV’s 10,000-square-foot business support and coworking center, Black Fire Innovation. Additional amenities include computer labs, green screens for digital content creation, conference rooms, and mobile mailboxes for business use.
