Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood Reunite for New Studio Collaboration

Lindsey Buckingham has reunited in the studio with former bandmate Mick Fleetwood for the first time since Fleetwood Mac dismissed him in 2018.

Despite the split, Fleetwood and Buckingham have maintained their friendship, having appeared together at the sixth annual Jam For Janie Grammy Awards viewing party at the Hollywood Palladium in February. Their last studio collaboration was the 2017 album “Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie,” which included every member of Fleetwood Mac except Stevie Nicks.

Swedish producer Carl Falk, who is producing Fleetwood’s solo album, said Buckingham recently visited the studio, resulting in a “magical” moment. “Slightly unreal moment to sit with Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood to play Lindsey the album we have been working on,” Falk wrote on Threads. “And to see his genuine happiness for Mick to finally do his own album and offering to play guitar and to sing on it. Can’t wait to finish this one.”

Falk, known for his work with artists like Madonna, Demi Lovato, One Direction, and Ariana Grande, has shared studio photos of Buckingham and Fleetwood, as well as Fleetwood with War On Drugs frontman Adam Granduciel. One photo of Buckingham was captioned, “Mick and Lindsey together again, what a flawless guitar player.”

Fleetwood recently released “Blues Experience,” recorded with ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro, marking his first solo album since 2004’s “Something Big.” Fleetwood Mac last toured in 2019 with Mike Campbell and Neil Finn in place of Buckingham. Stevie Nicks has ruled out any reunion following Christine McVie’s death in 2022.

Despite Fleetwood’s encouragement, Nicks has vowed never to work with Buckingham again. “I always have a fantasy that she and Lindsay would pal up a bit more and just say everything’s OK for them both,” Fleetwood said at the Janie’s Fund event in February.

Nicks, however, remains adamant. “I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could,” she told Rolling Stone. “You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”
