Lisa from BLACKPINK On the Song That Changed Her Life

Between her starring role in “The White Lotus” and her new solo album’s top 10 debut on the Billboard 200, one could argue that Lisa from BLACKPINK is currently enjoying the “best of both worlds.”

In an interview with The Guardian published March 24, the K-pop star revealed that this isn’t the only thing she shares with Disney pop star Hannah Montana. When asked about the song that changed her life, the K-pop star chose one of Miley Cyrus’s alter ego’s tracks. “I auditioned for BLACKPINK in Thailand by singing ‘Ice Cream Freeze (Let’s Chill)’ by Hannah Montana, so Miley Cyrus,” she revealed. “There must have been 1,000 people, so I never thought I would get picked. It’s a fun song and good to dance to, so I think it really suited my style.”

The country-dance track appeared on the soundtrack for the third season of the Disney series and features Cyrus’s character instructing her fans on how to dance along. “Do the ice cream freeze, strike your pose/ Then you do the milk shake/ Shake it, shake it down low,” she sings on the chorus.

Elsewhere in her Guardian interview, the rapper revealed that she knows every word to “Baby” by Justin Bieber but couldn’t bring herself to admit how big of a fan she was when she first met him. “I met him a few years ago, but just for a quick hi. I didn’t tell him how much I loved him, because I’m too shy,” she said.

Lisa released her debut solo album, “Alter Ego,” in February, with the project earning her a No. 7 debut on the Billboard 200. She joined her fellow BLACKPINK members Jisoo and Rosé in earning a top 10 debut with their first solo projects on the chart, with the group’s final member, Jennie, achieving the same feat the following week when “Ruby” debuted at No. 7 on the chart.
