Loving the Unlovable: Extending Grace Like Christ

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:8 (NIV)

Loving people who love us back is easy. But what about those who hurt, ignore, or drain us? Christ didn’t wait until we cleaned up our act. He loved us at our worst. That same grace is what we’re called to give others.

Loving the unlovable doesn’t mean tolerating abuse or sacrificing your boundaries, but choosing compassion over retaliation, understanding over judgment, and prayer over gossip. It’s not about what they deserve but who Christ is through us.

Today, show grace to someone hard to love. Say a kind word, offer a prayer, or choose not to respond in anger. Your response should reflect Christ, not your feelings.
