Luxor Buffet Closure Marks End of Affordable Dining Option on Vegas Strip

The Buffet at Luxor, one of the more affordable all-you-can-eat options on the Las Vegas Strip, is set to close at the end of the month, with its last day of operations on March 30. MGM Resorts International, the parent company, has not provided specific comments on the closure or plans for the space that will be vacated. A spokesperson mentioned that the company routinely evaluates its properties to ensure they align with consumer preferences and market trends.

Once the Luxor buffet closes, there will be eight remaining buffets in casinos along the Strip, with MGM-operated casinos hosting half of these. Some off-Strip locations like South Point, Rio, and Palms continue to offer all-you-can-eat dining. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, several casinos opted to close their buffets due to public health considerations and shifts in consumer behavior. Buffets have often been seen as “loss leaders,” meaning they are more costly to operate than the revenue they generate.

Currently, Luxor’s buffet operates from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a cost of $31.99 per adult and $26.99 for locals, making it one of the more budget-friendly options on the Strip.
