LVCVA Tourism Marketers R&R Partners Set For Big Changes

R&R Partners, the creative force behind the famous “What happens here, stays here” tagline for Las Vegas, is undergoing significant leadership changes. Billy Vassiliadis, who has owned the company since 1994, is stepping down from his CEO role to become chairman, handing over daily management to Michon Martin, the current President and new CEO. Martin will oversee various aspects of the business, including creative, government affairs, and digital operations, for notable clients such as the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and other major brands.

Despite stepping back, Vassiliadis will remain actively involved in creative and government affairs, as well as crisis communication. Martin acknowledges Vassiliadis as her mentor and intends to draw on his expertise. Her leadership will focus on leveraging the company’s diverse talent to solve client challenges effectively.

In line with these changes, R&R Partners is also refreshing its brand identity, which includes a new logo inspired by the iconic Las Vegas sign. The company has been preparing for this transition for two years, making several key hires, including new roles such as chief commercial officer and head of strategy.

Vassiliadis’s tenure has seen R&R through various challenges, including the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks, economic downturns, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The firm managed to avoid layoffs during the pandemic by shifting to work-from-home protocols. Looking ahead, Vassiliadis sees exciting opportunities for Las Vegas, including the potential arrival of Major League Baseball and NBA teams, and the development of a motion-picture studio to diversify the city’s economy.
