SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook and CEO of Meta, hinted at a potential music collaboration with Grammy-winning artist T-Pain after sharing a photo of the two in a recording studio. Zuckerberg posted the image on his Instagram Story, captioning it, “It’s happening guys.” Shortly after, T-Pain reposted the image, adding, “It is time…” and referring to Zuckerberg simply as “Z.”
Their friendship dates back a few years, during which T-Pain gifted Zuckerberg a custom “Nappy Boy Meta” chain in July. Zuckerberg posted a video of himself wearing the chain, calling it “a vibe,” and added, “Thanks @tpain for the epic new chain. Perfect opportunity to show how the new Segment Anything AI research model we’re releasing today can track different objects in the same video.”
T-Pain commented on the post, complimenting Zuckerberg with, “Looks great on you buddy. Thanks for being a great friend,” to which Zuckerberg responded, “It’s a great chain! Looking forward to more adventures ahead.”
While it remains unclear what exactly the pair might be working on, AI may play a role, given Zuckerberg’s recent demonstrations of Meta’s AI capabilities. Music fans are left wondering if the collaboration will yield a single, an entire project, or perhaps an innovative fusion of AI and music production.
The two first connected after Zuckerberg appeared on T-Pain’s livestream in 2021, where T-Pain suggested improvements to Instagram’s direct messaging system. This interaction followed T-Pain’s viral revelation that he had missed messages from numerous celebrities due to a feature he didn’t know existed.
