Nicki Minaj Celebrates ‘Pink Friday 2’ Being the Highest-Selling Album by A Female Rapper in 2024

Nicki Minaj’s album “Pink Friday 2,” released the previous year, became the highest-selling project by a female rapper in 2024. The 22-song collection reached No. 30 on Billboard’s 200 Albums year-end chart, driven by pure sales and on-demand streaming activity. Tracks like “Barbie Dangerous” and “FTCU”—the latter featuring a mega remix with Chris Brown, Travis Scott, and Sexyy Red—helped “Pink Friday 2” surpass 1 million album-equivalent units by January, according to REVOLT. Minaj launched her “Pink Friday 2 World Tour” in March, performing in major cities such as Los Angeles, Atlanta, Nashville, and Toronto, and also toured internationally. She returned for a second North American leg in September. On Saturday, December 14, Minaj celebrated her success with a collage of videos, screenshots, and throwback photos, expressing gratitude to her supporters and contributors. Other female hip-hop artists also made it onto the year-end 200 chart, with GloRilla’s “Ehhthang Ehhthang” at No. 145, Sexyy Red’s “Hood Hottest Princess” at No. 156, and Megan Thee Stallion’s self-titled third studio album at No. 184. Minaj expanded “Pink Friday 2” with several deluxe versions and plans to release another. Throughout its release, the project was updated with tracks like “Beep Beep (Remix)” featuring 50 Cent, “Love Me Enough” with Monica and Keyshia Cole, and “Press Play” with Future. The final deluxe installment, “Pink Friday 2 (The Hiatus),” was scheduled for release on Friday, December 13, but has yet to appear on streaming services, similar to “Pink Friday 2: Gag City Reloaded.” Fans are hoping for an update soon.
