Ewo Pohjola, the manager of the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, is facing legal issues after being charged with assault.
The charges stem from an incident that reportedly occurred in Tampere, Finland in October of 2023 during a Music x Media event. The details of the incident leading to the charge have not been fully disclosed, however the woman who brought forward the charges alleges she was approached by Pohjola and a second man at the event. After speaking with the second man for some time, she alleges that Pohjola put his hands around her neck in “a tight stranglehold”
A second woman has also come forward with similar accusations, however she has not pressed charges at this time.
Pohjola has a notable history in the music industry, having worked with several prominent bands in addition to Nightwish. Nightwish has stated that they will not be giving any statements about the situation until the case is closed
