Ohio Employee Loses Wedding Ring While Packing ‘A Christmas Story’ Merchandise

An employee at the “A Christmas Story” house in Cleveland lost his wedding ring while packing leg lamps and other merchandise for fans of the beloved 1983 holiday film.

“If you’ve recently placed an order with us,” the house staff posted on Facebook, “please take a moment to check your package for his ring.”

The mishap, straight out of a holiday movie, occurred in early December as the team shipped out holiday orders.

The Cleveland home, used as the filming location for the Parker family’s fictional Hohman, Indiana, residence, has become a year-round tourist attraction. Fans of the cult classic, which starred Peter Billingsley as Ralphie and Darren McGavin as The Old Man, often visit the site or purchase iconic memorabilia — including the infamous leg lamp — from the home’s online store.

The missing ring, described as a smooth black band with a deep blue interior, sparked a flurry of responses from customers who checked their deliveries. Some joined the search, while one commenter couldn’t resist a quip, writing, “I don’t think that someone else’s wedding band is a very good Christmas present,” a nod to Ralphie’s disappointment over a football gift in the movie.

The house staff noted the ring’s accompanying order slip was initialed “JK.” Despite the growing search effort, the ring remains missing.

“Your help would mean the world to him — and to us!” the Facebook post read, adding that anyone who finds the ring should contact [email protected].

It’s unclear if the infamous Black Bart played a role in the seasonal snafu, but for now, the groom’s “major award” remains elusive.
