The Pizza Triathlon, an exciting segment of the World Pizza Games, marked the conclusion of the International Pizza Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This vibrant event saw participants racing against the clock in a series of challenges, including pizza box folding and dough stretching, spinning, and tossing to fit both small and large pizza pans. Competitors, some even working barefoot, maneuvered through clouds of flour to enhance their grip and agility.
After initial heats, which saw about 30 contestants whittled down to a final group of five, Perry Bogacz from Caliente Pizza & Draft House emerged victorious. Representing his family-owned pizzeria in Pennsylvania, Bogacz completed the triathlon in an impressive 36.5 seconds, outpacing the runner-up by nearly 14 seconds. Beyond the triathlon, the Pizza Games showcased various other competitions such as freestyle acrobatics, fastest dough preparation, largest dough stretch, and quickest box folding, highlighting the diverse skills involved in the art of pizza making.
