Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025 Nominees Unveiled: Who Will Make the Cut?

The nominees for the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were announced early Wednesday, Feb. 12. Of the 14 nominees on this year’s ballot, only about half are expected to be inducted later this year as the Rock Hall’s Class of 2025.

This year’s nominees include: English rock supergroup Bad Company; Southern blues-rockers The Black Crowes; powerhouse singer-songwriter Mariah Carey; early rock ‘n’ roll hitmaker Chubby Checker; late blues vocalist Joe Cocker; radio-friendly punk rocker Billy Idol; post-punk-turned-dance-rock pioneers Joy Division/New Order; pop icon Cyndi Lauper; Mexican rockers Maná; Britpop legends Oasis; critically acclaimed hip-hop duo OutKast; jam band Phish; grunge icons Soundgarden; and garage rock minimalists The White Stripes.

Eight of the nominees are appearing on the ballot for the first time: Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, OutKast, and Phish. None of these artists are in their first year of eligibility, as artists become eligible 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording.

The nominees are selected by an international panel of more than 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals, and the Rock Hall includes a fan-voted element that affects the final results.

The Class of 2025 will be announced in late April, detailing which artists are inducted as performers, which are recognized for musical influence or excellence, and who will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

The induction ceremony for the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will take place in Los Angeles this fall.
