Ron Keel Revives STEELER Legacy with Explosive New Music Video Release

Ron Keel, the lead singer of the long-standing LA metal band KEEL, has unveiled a music video for his new track “Give Me Guitars (Or Give Me Death)” under the name STEELER, featured on the compilation album “KEELWORLD,” which came out in August. The STEELER lineup for this track includes Ron Keel, Mitch Perry, Rick Fox, Dwayne Miller (in the session), and Mark Edwards (in the video). “Give Me Guitars (Or Give Me Death)” marks the first new STEELER release in 41 years since their sole official album “STEELER” (1983).

On that album, the lead guitar was performed by Yngwie Malmsteen, who had recently arrived in the United States from Sweden at the age of 19, marking his debut work. In a 2020 interview, Ron Keel was asked about a potential STEELER reunion with Yngwie, to which he responded: “No. Yngwie wouldn’t do it. I’d be up for it right now, but he wouldn’t. It would be great if we could discuss doing a song together for charity. I have immense respect for his role in crafting one of the seminal foundations of metal with the STEELER album, which was a starting point for both of our careers. However, we are different individuals and don’t inhabit the same world.” “KEELWORLD” includes tracks from various projects and bands Ron has been part of, such as RON KEEL BAND, KEEL, STEELER, and EMERALD SABBATH, a BLACK SABBATH tribute project.
